    Supreet Prehar

Supreet Prehar is a perfect example of what goals, motivation, and determination can lead to when one follows through with their dreams and takes action. It can only lead to success, and that is exactly what Supreet has achieved in just over one year from graduating at The Art of Makeup School!

Supreet knew her niche from the start.  She wanted to take advantage of a community she was already a part of and specialize in Indian bridal and event makeup. With her natural ability at makeup, the skills she learned at The Art of Makeup, and her ability to network and promote herself, her career exploded, but that wasn’t enough.  She decided to get an esthetic license and create a home salon for her clients.  With the income she makes as a makeup artist, she has already purchased her first home and created that salon in her home.

Supreet has also hit influencer status on Instagram with now over 20K followers. You can see her many beautiful images and videos @preetycurebysupreet. Her business savviness reflects in her smart approach to social media marketing as an entrepreneur and a one woman show. Some of her favorite brands are now sending her PR packages with free makeup to promote on her Instagram page. Urban Decay  recently sent her a pre-release of their latest palette. Supreet has accomplished so much since she graduated in 2016!

Supreet is booked every weekend in and around Seattle for weddings, and also keeps her schedule busy during the week with facial treatments, waxing, and makeup and hair services. She is often booked for 3-4 days a week for different makeup looks on just one bride. This may include many sacred wedding rituals, such as a pre-party called Sangeet, which involves the family getting together to sing, dance and revel in the joy of the upcoming union. She caters to all types of brides, but Indian bridal makeup and hair is her specialty, and often involves intricate and bold, glamorous eyes accenting the brides’ Maang Tikka, which is the ornate jewelry the bride wears on her forehead and through the part of her hair. But Supreet also has her own style that is unique to the Indian bridal business, and that is the art of natural beauty.  She thinks one of the reasons she is so popular is that her makeup style is distinctly different from other Indian bridal makeup artists.  She brings out the true beauty in each client, and that doesn’t always mean to completely change the person, hiding their face in makeup.  Supreet knows how to accentuate their best features, helping brides to feel their most beautiful selves.

I wanted to know what some of her favorite brands and products were and she expressed that she is big fan of having options depending on her clienteles’ skin type and age range. Healthy skin is such a vital part of every makeup application and Supreet loves to use brands like Clinique, Farsáli and Milk Makeup. We are so thrilled to hear that she still uses Make Up Forever foundations which we supply in our student kits. We love the texture, longevity and how easy it layers. She also uses Estée Lauder Double Wear and MAC Studio Fix Powders as foundation options, and her go to eyeshadow brands are Huda Beauty, Tarte, Urban Decay and Natasha Denona. The beauty industry is growing so rapidly, it’s challenging to find the right high quality, affordable products that get carefully selected in a makeup artist’s kit.

I asked Supreet what makeup skills have stuck with her since she graduated that she still uses in her business. She told me the foundation of everything she does as a makeup artist is from what she learned at The Art of Makeup! She really developed her preferred style of application through her professional training. This is where she learned the importance of starting with a more natural beauty application in her makeup technique, and what has really helped grow her business. Her clients also recognize how sanitation and organization play a huge role in her professionalism. She said she learned all of these important skills at The Art of Makeup, and will often train other makeup artists how to be more sanitary and organized too.

It was wonderful to catch up with Supreet and hear about her successful career as a professional working makeup artist! We are so proud of her for  envisioning her career goals and conquering them in such a short time!
